OUR MATERIALS - SEDGE Natural sedge is a semi-aquatic annual plant that grows up to two meters high. It has a triangular sectional stem that is pliant and glossy. The cultivation of sedge is similar to the processing and period for cultivating rice.
We can find whole villages that plant and produce large quantities of sedge plants in irrigated rice fields whilst some farmers, plant sedge in just a corner of their rice field for personal use.
Weaved sedge mats are highly recognized and are commonly used in Thailand. It is considered as one of the compulsory items for every household in almost every activity such as; floor mats, dining or just casual sit-downs or gatherings.
This natural woven placemat is carefully handwoven by Thai artisans, pouring generations of local wisdom and craftsmanship. Skill is truly a community that has been transmitted down from generation to generation.

This collection, Recycled Plastic Made Material, is created and inspired from traditional plastic picnic mats which are popular and commonly used in the remote areas of Thailand as household floor mats.
At E’thnica Bazaar we value the world we live in; therefore all our produces are eco-friendly. The uniqueness of these traditional mats are that they are made from the finest recycled raw materials which are light weight, durable and tear-resistant. We make all our products from villager produces, and so also promoting sustainable living.
Another uniqueness are that the mats are available in many colors, patterns and designs depending on the cultures and ethnicity of the weaver. Each mat has its distinct pattern and with different arrangements of the same design, the pattern can alter.
